The 2024 edition \u2013 the festival\u2019s 20th anniversary \u2013 screened more than 200 feature films from 42 countries, including Sophie Deraspe\u2019s Shepherds<\/em>, Nabil Ayouch\u2019s Everybody Loves Touda<\/em>, and Edward Berger\u2019s award-winning Conclave<\/em>.<\/p>\n Technical Director Lana Oppen discovered MASV after finding herself staring down a rapidly approaching deadline back in 2021.<\/strong> \u201cI had to transfer my own film to CBC,\u201d she explains. \u201cThey have their own internal process, and it wasn\u2019t coming through. It was really down to the wire.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I frantically searched on Google and saw that MASV can transfer very large files very quickly. But Print Traffic & Digital Asset Manager Nuha Elalem says this workflow was significantly disrupted a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n \u201cBetween 2022 and 2023, the ratio of physical vs. digital media completely changed,\u201d she explains, with the festival moving to mostly digital submissions in just a year or two. \u201cWe weren\u2019t really prepared for that.\u201d<\/p>\n Amid such rapid disruption, WIFF needed a reliable, fast, and easy-to-use digital file transfer solution it could easily integrate into existing workflows.<\/strong> <\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n No. 1 on WIFF\u2019s list of must-haves was ease of use \u2013 both for internal WIFF staff, and for those sending content.<\/p>\n WIFF\u2019s previous managed file transfer solution was anything but. The user interface was complex and confusing, and it was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone to help.<\/p>\n \u201cIt immediately felt like I was in over my head. I didn\u2019t know what I was doing, and I didn\u2019t feel like anyone cared. It was impossible to get hold of anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n WIFF, which regularly works with large distributors and studios, also needed an upload solution that presented the festival in a professional and appealing manner.<\/p>\n \u201cWIFF has grown in size, profile and reputation very quickly.
