programming and film festivals in the Ottawa area. Its many events include the International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO), the European Union Film Festival, and the Oscar-accredited Ottawa International Animation Festival (founded in 1976). With more and more features moving into 4K, that just makes them even exponentially larger. And having to wait 36 hours for a single file to download is just untenable.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Keeping hundreds of submissions organized by project or festival can also be extremely time-consuming if done manually by festival staff. The institute needed a fast transfer method that could keep film submissions organized per event or festival with minimum manual intervention.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Hartley says the volume of files the CFI deals with every year makes reliability a key component.<\/p>\n \u201cAnytime there\u2019s a technical issue it just adds more work, which is time we don\u2019t have\u201d given the number of submissions every year, explains Hartley.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cThat reliability is key. So it doesn’t work, and you have to ask them to fix it.\u201d<\/p>\n The CFI now fires up one MASV Portal \u2013 which are free to spin up \u2013 per project or film festival, which keeps submissions organized with practically no effort.<\/p>\n \u201cMASV makes things a lot faster in terms of double-checking what files we’ve received, rather than having a spreadsheet with a bunch of links,\u201d Hartley explains. \u201cIt makes it really easy for us to keep it organized.
