You can customize everything.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.14.7″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”18px” text_line_height=”1.8em” header_font=”||||||||” header_line_height=”1.3em” custom_margin=”||32px||false|false” custom_padding=”9px||0px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Salon<\/a> has been a mainstay of the British television and film industry for more than a half-century, and is the longest serving editing equipment rental firm in the U.K. Initially an offline film production and editing equipment rental company, Salon now also provides digital editing systems, support, and cloud services for some of the world\u2019s largest TV and feature film productions including Alex Rider (Amazon Prime), Rebecca (Netflix), and The Great British Bake Off (Channel 4).<\/p>\n Managing director Nick Long has been involved with Salon, a family business, since his youth. While this approach worked well for shooting, it wasn\u2019t nearly as effective for a post-production process featuring a couple dozen editors with variable internet speeds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Enter one of Salon\u2019s latest products \u2013 a 2020 Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards <\/span>finalist<\/span> for \u201cBest Innovation in Lockdown\u201d \u2013 called <\/span>SalonSync<\/span><\/a>. \u201cIt enables you to have full edits at home,\u201d Long explains, using pre-configured storage devices that communicate with Salon\u2019s servers. That way, he says, \u201ceveryone has the same media and they’re all kept in sync.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n SalonSync proved an immediate success and was quickly rolled out to a large number of productions. But Long says the system still hadn\u2019t solved the issue of easily and quickly transferring dailies footage from set to storage and the editing suite. \u201cWe\u2019d sorted out the editing workflow \u2013 sending stuff between editors automatically and getting all our boxes to talk to each other automatically \u2013 but we also wanted to integrate getting stuff from set,\u201d he says.
