It ingests a menagerie of content types, from 4K clips to celluloid reels from the late 1800s that need to be video upscaled<\/a> into high-resolution footage.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fittingly, Troveo is now the world\u2019s largest video network for AI training. \u201cWe ingest the data and do processing on it to prepare it for AI training pipelines,\u201d explains Head of Growth Sarah Barrick. \u201cAnd then we deliver that to technology and AI companies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n But as a technology startup, time is of the essence. And getting all that video from multiple content owners around the world, each with varying degrees of technical ability, into cloud storage in time to meet deal deadlines was a major challenge.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=”easy” _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Working with content owners from around the world, in different languages, with varying degrees of technical expertise, meant Troveo\u2019s video upload solution had to be easy and intuitive to use for anyone \u2013 even accounting for potential language barriers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe steps to upload content into the bucket had to be extremely minimal \u2013 particularly the steps for the end user, our licensors,\u201d Barrick explains. \u201cTrying to use a command line interface or something like that to transfer content was out of the question.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The Troveo team didn\u2019t have time to field hundreds of support questions from content owners having trouble navigating the upload. \u201cWe were a small team. We could not be going back and forth on email in various languages with people about content ingestion.\u201d<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=”fast” _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The breakneck pace of Troveo\u2019s scale-up with both licensors and AI partners meant it needed a lot of content uploaded to the cloud \u2013 fast \u2013 to meet deal deadlines.<\/p>\n \u201cThe number of TBs in our cloud bucket needed to go up as fast as possible,\u201d she explains. \u201cOur major challenge was getting it into the cloud as fast as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Troveo also needed transparency along the data upload pipeline for its users, and for all uploaded content to be organized by type once uploaded.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=”reliable” _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Troveo risks alienating licensors if they have a bad file upload experience by having to babysit transfers, retry failed transfers, or sit through poor customer service. Content licensors typically upload file packages in the 300 to 500 gigabyte range, but sometimes more than a terabyte in one shot.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n All this content needed to be ingested quickly, reliably, and securely, so the company could meet its deal deadlines with AI firms.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=”receive-files” _builder_version=”4.14.7″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_line_height=”1.8em” header_3_text_color=”#000000″ hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n Troveo now generates a private, secure MASV Portal<\/a> for each content owner following contract signing; uploaders simply drag-and-drop their files into the Portal.<\/p>\n \u201cThe ultimate factor was the usability,\u201d says Barrick. \u201cIt was just so easy for users \u2013 they didn’t even have to download a desktop client. They didn\u2019t need any technical expertise, and could use a private, secure portal to begin uploading right away. \u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Troveo embedded browser-based Portal functionality into its proprietary user interface, ensuring a seamless upload experience:<\/p>\n But MASV doesn\u2019t just make file upload easy for uploaders. It also cuts down on overhead at Troveo: Staff don\u2019t have to go back and forth with content owners to field support questions, or spend time developing ingestion features for users.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were able to just use MASV out of the box and get the job done,\u201d she explains. \u201cOur licensors don\u2019t need to download or install software or plugins.
